Wednesday, October 7, 2015
Estrella Warbirds Museum
4251 Dry Creek Road, Paso Robles
805-238-9317

The October luncheon will be held at the Estrella Warbirds Museum, located at the Paso Robles airport. After the luncheon concludes, the museum has agreed to open exclusively for our members. If fewer than 75 members tour the museum, the museum is requesting a $5 - $8 donation (fee is based on attendance...the more members, the lower the fee). Should more than 75 members tour the museum, members will be asked to make a donation of their own discretion. This will be a truly enjoyable afternoon for all.

Menu: Chef Samantha Nason of "Zest it Up" Catering will be preparing a Fall-inspired lunch to complement the wines being served by Peachy Canyon Winery. Lunch consists of Mediterranean Chicken Roasted in Olive, Caper and Plum Vinaigrette or Zucchini Parmesan (layered stacks of Panko-crusted Zucchini with Mozzarella, fresh Tomatoes and Basil for the vegetarians…or anyone...sounds great), Parmesan and Spinach Orzo, Winter Salad of Mixed Greens and Arugula topped with Roasted Beets, Goat Cheese and Spiced Pecans, all tossed in a Champagne Vinaigrette. For dessert--Chewy Brown Butter Cookies!

Beverages: Our friends at Bon Niche Cellars have agreed to provide a selection of their new release wines for purchase by the glass or the bottle. Iced tea and cucumber water will also be available at no cost.

Program: To enhance our experience at the museum, our speaker will be George J. Marrett. He is a former United States Air Force officer, combat veteran and test pilot, and the author of many aviation-related books and articles. Mr. Marrett worked at Hughes Aircraft Company as an experimental test pilot. For twenty years he flew test programs which helped develop attack radar and missiles in F-14, F-15, F-16 and F-18 fighters and an early version of the B-2 Stealth bomber. He has flown over 40 types of military aircraft. Marrett retired from Hughes in 1989 and lives in Atascadero. He is one of the early members of the Estrella Warbirds Museum, where he enjoys flying his privately-owned plane, a 1945 Stinson L-5E Sentinel. This plane is on display at the museum. Mr. Marrett will be speaking to us about aviation and the influences of Howard Hughes.
